Pour répondre à la main mise des nazis et des fascistes italiens sur les festivals de Berlin et de Venise, des cinéastes Français décident de créer un festival en France à Cannes. Tout est fin prêt pour le 1er septembre 1939 . Mais l'ouverture est ajournée jusqu’en septembre 1946. Que s'est-il passé pour le cinéma français entre ces deux dates ? To answer the grip of the Nazis and Italian fascists on Berlin and Venice Festivals French film makers decide to create a Festival in France in Cannes. But German soldiers cross the river Rhine and seize the French cinema. Everything is ready for September 1st, 1939 .The opening is postponed following the mobilization on September 10th before being postponed during several years.. When the famous Festival will be inaugurated in September 1946, on the eve of a new Republic, a cruel period, grotesque and harmful : the occupation of French territory by the Nazis and the Vichy government.
