Le Clos Lucé, dernière demeure de Léonard de Vinci
Amboise, en pleincoeur du Val de Loire, est le foyer de la Renaissance en France. Le Clos Lucé, situé sur l’ancien fief relevant du Château d’Amboise, a abrité durant les trois dernières années de sa vie l’un des génies des plus reconnus : Léonard de Vinci.
Ayantquitté Rome, car appelé par François Ier pour devenir le “Premier peintreIngénieur et Architecte” du royaume, ils’installealors au Clos Lucéàpartir de 1516. La légende veut qu’il soit arrivé en France à dos de mulet, apportant dans ses malles les troiscélèbres tableaux : La Joconde, La Vierge, l’enfantJésus et Sainte Anne et Saint Jean-Baptiste. Plusieurs missions lui sont confiées : organiser les fêtes de la Cour d’Amboise et concevoir des projets architecturaux comme les plans de la citéidéale de Romorantin. Le Clos Lucé estdoté d’un parc de plus de 7 hectares où sont actuellement développées des expositions sur l’oeuvre architecturale et scientifique de Léonard de Vinci. Sont recrées ses plus célèbres inventions comme la roue à aube, l’hélicoptèreou encore le pont à deux niveaux. On peut, au Clos Lucé, découvrir l’antre du génie, son cabinet de travail, sa chambre ou encore le salon XVIIIème qui a pû lui servir d’Atelier. Et plus mystérieux encore, on peut y découvrirl’entrée du souterrain que, selon la légende, François I'empruntait pour rendre visite à Léonard…
Amboise, at the heart of the Loire Valley, was the birthplace of the French Renaissance. In the lands of the ancient fiefdom of the Chateau of Amboise is Clos Luce, home during the last three years of his life, to one of history’s great geniuses: Leonardo da Vinci. He left Rome to answer the call of François 1er who offered to appoint him as “Chief painter, Engineer and Architect” of the Kingdom. He moved in to Clos Luce in 1516. Legend has it that he arrived in France riding on a mule, with trunks carrying his three famous masterpieces : The Mona Lisa, The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne, and Saint John the Baptist. He was charged with a number of missions: organizing the celebrations of the court of Amboise, designing architectural projects like his plans for Romorantin, the ideal city. Clos Luce has more than 7 hectares of parkland which is used today to present exhibitions of Leonardo da Vinci’s extensive architectural and scientific work. There are recreations of some of his most famous inventions such as the paddle wheel, the helicopter and the two-level bridge. At Clos Luce we are able to explore the genius’ lair; his office, his bedroom and the 18th century salon which he used as a workshop. And, to add to the mystery, you can even see the entrance to the underground passage which François 1er supposedly used to visit Leonardo…
