Yves le Bechennec is an archaeologist. For fifteen years, he has been digging in a Gallic site, in the heart of the northeastern Parisian suburb of Bobigny. The remains discovered reveal the existence of a vast town of artisans from the 3rd century BC. In the necropolis of the village, a tomb intrigues the archaeologist, that of a very young warrior buried with his shield, but without a sword or spear. The restoration of the remains of the shield leads the archaeologist to think that it is a training shield; to make a replica of this shield by an experimental craftsman, then to test its resistance to shocks. At the same time, he works on the ancient combat techniques with a group of young people belonging to the Sikh community of Bobigny in the framework of an ethno-comparison between Gallic populations and Sikh populations.
